Rob Leuschke lives in St. Charles, Missouri in the middle of the USA. He grew up there and later attended the University of Missouri, in Columbia, Missouri where he received his Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts. As a little boy, he loved to draw, and was especially fond of creating letters. At age 5, he would try to draw the same pictures his kindergarten teacher drew. It was obvious to nearly all of his teachers throughout schooling that Rob would someday be a professional artist. After graduating from college, Rob worked for a short time at a sign company in St. Louis. In July of 1983, he began working as a lettering artist at Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, Missouri. With the inspiring talent of fellow artists at Hallmark, Rob had the opportunity to learn from the best people in the industry. His talent as a calligrapher and lettering artist eventually brought him back to St. Louis to begin a freelance career. Upon the purchase of his first Macintosh computer in 1988, he began to develop typefaces with Fontographer (a font developing program). Catering mostly to the greeting card industry, over time, Rob was able to create over 250 fonts that are now being used on work for his clients all over the world. Rob has shown his work at the Surtex Show in New York city. With the exposure from the show, he has established a clientele overseas. One of the highlights of his freelance career was a trip to the Philippines, where he was asked to create lettering for the first International Greeting Card Workshop. Rob was the only American attending this gathering of creative talent from countries in Europe, and Asia. Most of his work has consisted of greeting card and social expression design work. However, in recent years Rob has begun to branch out to more commercial ventures. Some of his clients include Anheuser-Busch, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, The Franklin Mint, and the Bradford Exchange. Rob hopes to continue to do work for other industries in addition to the social expression clientele he presently enjoys. |
